Since this is mostly to vid cards, and mostly vid card problems, I thought I'd go ahead and post this -

When you suspect your video card - in win9x, take your video down to standard vga - if this clears up your problems, its something to do with your video card, if it doesn't, start uninstalling drivers yanking cards out, until yer down to vid, mem, pro, mobo and HD (yes, unplug yer cd rom drives AND floppy, zips, ect)

This'll tell you a few things - 1 if you have a real hardware issue, or 2, if you have a few parts conflicting somewhere (usually, again, drivers)

Hope this'll help most of ya fix yer problem BEFORE you need to post it.


ps - heh, if you want windows to run forever w/o a lockup, uninstall the vid drivers, or never do install 'em in the first place - I had a win98se with NO updates run for 8 days stright, then I didn't need it anymore so I turned it off <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
