What company made your Geforce2 MX (Creative, Hercules, etc...)?
Try going to their website and using their drivers rather than the Det. 3 drivers - you might find more success with those. I remember hearing when the Det. 3 drivers first came out that some people had problems with them.

Ok, I know EXACTLY what the problem is..please follow these instructions carefully.
1. Run NVIDIA's latest Detonator install (use the actual ones from www.nvidia.com...they're (http://www.nvidia.com...they're) better now).
2. go to your device manager and REMOVE YOUR MONITOR, if it's still in there.
3. Reboot the system, and it should detect your monitor.
4. If it does the same thing, then reboo in safe mode, and delete ALL the monitors in the Device tree. THen go to your Display settings (advanced mode) and set your refresh rate to "Adapter Default". Then reboot.
5. If this doesn't work let me know via e-mail.

npaladin is right, it would sound.
i actually use a geforce2 card, the hercules prophet ii model... i had a similar problem with me loading the drivers, but i got a protection error instead of a blank screen. i isolated the files that were doing it and they were vid drvrs. first, i went to hercules and got their latest drivers (v6.35-11/00). to my dismay, the problem got worse... the next step was to go to nvidia and use the latest reference det3 drivers (i think 09/00). now the system runs great. so, i'd confirm npaladins advice. good luck!

every new system i have built with any type of nVidia card and ME has had to have a driver update through the Windows Update. It's one of the last things listed the product updates.
