I have a GeForce3 (Cardex/Gainward) running on an Asus A7M with a 1.4 T-bird and the damn thing locks up with the XP drivers while running 3D apps (3DMark, Shogun, etc.) but when it finishes it rates great. When I use the manufacturer's drivers it doesn't lock up but gets horrible scores...anyone know a resolution to this? I've tried AGP aperature adjustments, video shadowing adjustments, newest BIOS, newest drivers for EVERYTHING..., disabling ACPI...what the heck is going on?! Help Please!!!

I've also had problems with the new XP drivers. I don't get lockups (this is the sole reason I run a P4, it's just more stable) but I can't run any games in full screen mode. If I drop back to the 12.41 drivers everything works fine.

/me thinks there's some bugs to be worked out of the XP drivers.

Check your device manager... I know this is true with my Gforce2, and it'll prolly be the same with your 3... Make sure that it is not sharing an IRQ with anything else. Windows 2000 likes to do that. They say that the 2's need to be on IRQ 11. That could be the problem. If you look on your manufacturer's site, you can probably find some info about this aswell.

Heya, I had a similar problem with my Gainward GF3 - locking up in 3DMark 2001.

It would get to the dragothic test and just die, the thing is - my frame rate in the first test (racing game, not too sure of the title) was only about 20fps on the lowest detail setting.

What I did was go to Via and get the latest 4in1 drivers (I have a KT266 c/set). The new AGP GART in the 4in1 4.33's is - quite simply - awesome!

We're pulling frame rates of 120-130+ now, that's with the latest NVidia drivers (21.83 I seem to recall) and the 4in1 4.33's.

In case you're wondering - my specs are:

MSI MS-6380 Pro R
1.4ghz DDR Athlon
768mb Cube DDR Ram
Gainward 64mb DDR GeForce 3
Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
etc etc etc (keyboard, mouse!)
running WinMe (unfortunately, it's the only thing I could get FireWire running in!)

But yeah, see if your mobo chipset manuf. has updated AGP GART's, and make sure that in your bios - you have the following:

AGP Fast Writes (enabled)
AGP Speed (4x - NOT AUTO!)
Read to Write Delay (0)
AGP Comp. Driving (AUTO)

and you should be fine!
