My system is an AMD Thunderbird 1.2G with a PCChips M/B and the SiS 730 graphics chipset. Windows Update (I run W98SE) just offered an SiS driver update from 4.13.01.2000 to 4.13.01.2011 which I installed.
Benchmark results (from PerformanceTest3.4) showed a slight drop in 2D performance, but the ManyWorlds 3D test went from 51.8fps to 163.6fps - more than *triple* the speed.
Has anyone else seen increases like this? Seems almost too good to be true, not that I'm complaining... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/cwmsmilies/cwm35.gif

Alright, it was something of a false alarm... a second machine with the same M/B but the *old* drivers had a 3D frame rate right up there with the *new*-drivers figure for mine.

So instead it becomes a question of why my machine was so slow in 3D before.

Looks like anyone with one of the PCChips SiS760 M/Bs (mine is an M810LR) still oughta update the drivers, just in case theirs is in the same state mine was before updating...
