I have recently built myself a P4 1.8Ghz PC - Abit TH7 Mainboard with an ASUS V8200 GeForce 3 Graphics Card. (WinME OS)

Once ME is installed , I install the Intel 850 Chipset INF drivers provided by ABIT, then Directx 8 (provided by both ABIT & ASUS), then my Graphics card drivers. - I have tried different combinations of this.

PROBLEM
--------------
EVERY game I have - eg MS Train Sim, Dominion Wars, Independence War 2 etc etc install, but when run crash, freeze or generally screw up my PC.

I have tried the card on a PIII 1Ghz PC and it was worked excellently.

It seems to be a Directx problem, many of the error messages 'DDHELP caused an error ....'

Can anyone offer advice.

Cheers

Andy

Have you tried the Direct X Diagnostic tool in System Information?

Thanks for the prompt reply. In the interim, I spent what seemed like an eon trawling through this and many similar news groups and found my answer. - Windows ME doesn't happily support 1GB Memory.

I have since downgraded to a humble 512mb and it works like a dream.

I will leave this message posted for anyone else having Direct3D/OpenGL problems with their PC's

Cheers
