I have a model CM9089 BE41 Magnovox Super VGA monitor that will not work with the onboard adapter in my new computer. Nor will it work on my Toshiba Laptop. Both these computers are running Win 98. However, it does work with my old 486 which is running Win 95 and runs on a friends Win 3.1 machine. Is my problem WIN 98 or is it that the new onboard adapters will not work with the older monitors?

What do you mean by won't work !

If its a vga monitor, windows sometimes tries putting the default screen size to 800 x 600, too much for a vga monitor so you get a bunch of lines.

Go into safe mode and set it to 640 x 480.

Thanks, Paul

That fixed the problem. I changed from 600X800 to 640X480 in Control Panel/Display/Settings rather than going to the safe mode. What threw me off was the "Super" VGA label on the front of the monitor. I read somewhere that Super VGA should be set to 600X800. Also, I checked the display setting on the computers that were working fine with the monitor and they were set for 600X800. Comments??
