How appropritae that the icon I selected uses the Diamond MM Red/White color scheme... ;o]

Okay, here's the situation:

Wait back up...

Here's the configuration:

Iwill P55XB2 MB
Intel 430TX Chipset
Award BIOS (flashed to most current version approved by MB manufacturer)
NO AGP
NO USB
Previous video card: Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 Pro

Video card I'm trying to install: As the title says, e-TNT2 Vanta 16 MB PCI sold by EVGA.com OEM.

The problem is that when I install the lastest WHQL 12.41 nVidia drivers (yes I, as completely as humanly possible, did my best to purge all Diamond setup, .dll, .vxd, .inf, etc. files from the HD and remove as much diamond-realted junk from the registry as possible [they make it extremely difficult to find, BTW]) and reboot, it finds the card fine, installs the drivers, right? Okay, fine. Then it reboots again and says the display adapter is not configured properly and to go into the Hardware Setup program to correct the problem. Well, I do that, re-select Vanta, try again, reboot, same deal. Finally, I just click cancel and go intothe device manager -> Properties for the Vanta/VantaLT (it has a ! by it, so something's obviously not right) and look at all the tabs, but it says there's no conflicts. So, I look through the other devices and all is well.

So, what the hell is going on, and why won't it recognize my video card??

I talked to the tech support boys over at EVGA.com, and they always seem to relate the problem back to Diamond, the registry, not our fault, nuke the system, have a nice day... I.e., they have no idea what's going on, how to fix it, andapparently don't care that my comp is now stuck at 640X480x16 colors permanently until I can resolve this!!

Can someone point me in the right direction here? Are there any utils that will search and destroy all things diamond? I know they have utils like that for nVidia drivers & registry stuff. But do they have any for Diamond? The Diamond uninstall reoutines are crap and leave just about everything where it was to begin with...

Please, please, please help!

first go to device manager then change your display driver to standard vga adapter then reboot when asked then go back to device manager and install your nvidia drivers, after reboot all should be fine
