Monitor resolution issues

I have a Dell Demension 4100 and a Packard Bell 1511 SL monitor. I am unable to get my resolution above 15 colors and 640x520. I have installed pbmon.exe and removed the display adaptors and monitors in device manager.

I would get the latest VGA driver for the version of Windows I had and verify which monitor type is installed.

if you removed the display adapter and monitor... you'll never get it any higher (unless you have them back). You have to make sure windows has defined some monitor (unknown is not a monitor type btw). You could use the generic windows driver if you have to, or try to find the specific driver for your monitor. Otherwise you're stuck in 640x480.
