[RESOLVED] TNT CARD

We are using a jaton 16 mb b-force TNT video card with a tyan trinity kt motherboard. Every so many boots, the system freezes on the boot and leaves little green lines across the top of the screen. we have also had the same issue with the b-force TNT m64 chipset 32 mb. Can anyone tell us a possible fix for this problem?

If you have MS Backup installed, remove it. It's a weird glitch that occurs on a VIA chipset based motherboard. For some reason, Windows is looking for a tape backup drive on start-up, and if it doesn't see one, it'll freak out every once in a while.

Also, delete (or copy to a different directory, to be safe) the following files:

[C:\windows\inf ]
pnpwfdc.inf
pnpwide.inf
pnpwtape.inf
pnpwppt.inf

[C:\windows\system\iosubsys ]
drvwq117.vxd
drvwppqt.vxd
drvwcdb.vxd

Hope this helps. I had this problem when I first built my system with an ABIT KT7 and a Geforce 2, and was sure it was video related, until I put my old Voodoo 3500 in and had the same problem.

I had that same problem with an Abit KT7 about 2 months ago, finally got so fed up, replaced the board! Wish I had known that to try. I replaced it with an Asus A7V-133 and do not have the problem but would like to have kept the Abit board... Oh well.. life goes on, good adivce though.
