I have a DSL. When i am on line should Explorer and Microsoft Internet Explorer be running at the same time when you hit ctrl alt delete. I,m sort of confused on that.

Yes, they run as two different processes even though the two are "integrated." Explorer is started through c:\windows\explorer.exe and Internet Explorer through c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe

More specifically, Explorer is your Windows desktop shell and local file browser. And of course IExplorer is your web browser.
