Hi.

I am trying to figure out this crash problem. It only happens if you log in to the workstation (Win98SE on a Dell) as a normal user, or even a user with admin rights. If you log into the system as the admin login, there are no problems. I have updated all programs to the latest and greatest but that still has not solved my problem, only slowed it down to crashing every few minutes. The message is as follows:

Explorer caused a stack fault in module SHLWAPI.DLL at xxxxxxxxxxx:xxxxxxxxxxx

I ran Dr. Watson at the same time and the explanation was:

The application overflowed its stack. This is typically caused by unrestricted recursion or an exception inside an exception handler.

Module Name: SHLWAPI.DLL
Description: Shell Light-weight Utility Library
Version: 5.50.4522.1800
Product: Microsoft(R) Windows (R) 2000 Operating System
Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation

Application Name: Explorer.exe
Description: Windows Explorer
Version: 4.72.3110.1
Product: Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R) Operating System
Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation

I am at my wits end with this one. I really do not want to reformat this system, but it seems to be the only option I have left. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks! ;-)
