When I try to download something with Explorer 5, it gives an error message, and it says it\s because of a file called NEWDOTNET2_109.DLL. I can't find the dll on the windrivers-site, can someone tell me how to get rid off this anoying message, everytime I have to shutdown explorer.....

I just had the same problem, it has to to with file sharing sofeware, either Lime ware or Bearshare, my money is on Bearshare. They place a few things into the registry, try using "MSCONFIG" to disable them. if that works then make them active again, reboot and use thier uninstall to remove.

one has a options to install just one or two file to avoid this..

I had to reinstall from a Ghost img file for other reasons, but the above worked the first time I tried it..

They enable this functionality through the use of client software installed on your computer deceptively when you install other programs, like Bearshare for example.

Download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) - this will get rid of it.

goodness gracious! I just had a problem with said file the other day. we have a programmer building new software for us. I installed an early version on a workstation for tests. When using it, I got an invalid page fault in newdot...
I asked the programmer if he knew what this file has to do with, and he did not. Could be from some shareware junk the specific user had installed on her machine!!!

Had same problem when I installed iMesh on Mum's PC. It screwed up everything <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> Uninstall didn't work, and ended up searching through registry for all entries relating to iMesh.

Like the idea of a tool that does this in one easy step - quality!

Pretty sneaky how this stuff gets lodged in the system in first place, though......
