Want to restart Windows 98...

I want to restart Windows 98 but I have not idea how to do it. I have a Windows 98 CD and what do I need to do. Please help...

I ment that I want to reinstall Windows 98. Sorry...

If you are able to boot from CD, you should be able to put in the CD and restart the system...

I did that and it get halfway and then the message that it was interupted.

Back up any information that you want to retain. Then go to Start|Settings|Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs then select the startup disk tab at the top and create a boot disk. Assuming that you are not able to boot to the CD drive as mentioned above also a good safety measure too.
The startup disk will give you the ability to access a CD drive.
Next you want to use regedit and go to LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion and locate the Product Key. This is in case the key has been lost.
Once you have booted and are able to access the Windows CD you are able to start the setup process.

Have the boot disk(win98)
Make sure you boot to floppy
Insert boot disk and start with cd rom support:

@ the a: prompt type:
fdisk/mbr
format c:/s
(asumming you have the partition intact)
type:
c:
md win98
This makes a dir named win98
now got to your cd rom,most likely e:
copy win98 c:\win98
This will copy the CAB files to your local Hard Drive, ie c:\win98
type:
c:
then
cd win98
then
setup
BAmmmmmmm
setup will roll through,make sure you have your cd key handy!!!!

Alright I'm about to reinstall to (been awhile) so let's see if I remeber everything <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Clean Install
1. Backup all important data and make sure you have a boot disk
2. Goto DOS and either type format c:\ or run fdisk to format your harddrive/s (if you got more then one harddrive and want it formated to just replace the 'c' with the appreiate drive letter)
3. Insert your Windows boot disk and select the option to start your computer with CD-ROM support (think it's #3 on most disks), this will install a generic CD-ROM driver
4. Insert your Windows CD
5. Type x:\ (where x is your CD-ROM drive, after installing the drivers as in step 3 it will tell you the drive letter/s of your CD-ROM drive/s)
6. Type setup
7. Follow the on screen instructions

ReInstall Windows or upgrading
1. Place your Windows CD into the CD-ROM drive
2. A window should pop up with a install or upgrade button, click it and follow the on screen instructions
3a. If the window didn't pop up click on My Computer which is located on the desktop
3b. Locate the CD-ROM icon which contains the Windows CD and double click on it
3c. Locate Setup.exe and double click on it, then follow the on screen instructions

May I ask you why do you want to reinstall 98? Problems with your system before?
I am saying this just because if so and if you get error messages during the install, you might have a memory chip problem.
