Find all instances of *.wab on your hard drive, take note of the NAME.
eg. If your address book is currently called spazzy.wab then rename it to spazzy.bak, take the one from the floppy, rename it to spazzy.wab and put it in where the original was.
Restart, and you should now have it back.

If reboot's suggestion doesn't help out, tell us which version of IE you were running before, and which you are running now.
I did some work on a PC originally at 98, IE 4. I instead installed 98SE, which starts at IE5. Couldn't for the life of me import the mailboxes from the raw data on the old hardrive. Renameing file extensions didn't fly either. In the past, my only success from 4 to 5 was with an upgrade, and converting mail then. Many say it can be imported from the raw data into 5 from 4, I always say, have you or anyone you know actually done it...No. I believe it can't be done.
The only Idea I came up with, was to start over, reload 98 with ie4, setup outlook express, then upgrade to 5. Looking back, I could have booted off of the old drive, upgraded to IE5, perform the conversion, then the data could be relocated as reboot suggested.
I now only work with Outlook. A PST and PAB is so much easier to manage. And you can import outlook express items so easily!

Had a similar problem myself. Upgraded from 98Se to WinME and imported my old address book. After running ME for a few months i decided it was more trouble that it was worth so reformatted and did a clean install of 98SE. Then tried to import my address book which i had saved out before ditching ME and nothing will recognise it. Didn't have the time to mess about trying to sort it so just put it down to being one of those things but this topic has re-ignited my interest. I think ME comes with IE 5.5?? and 98SE comes with IE5.0 so will upgrade IE and see if i can import my saved WinME WAB files. Will let ya know whether it works or not....just in case anyones interested <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I doubt anybody else is stupid enough to do this but...
Recently had a problem with IE5 refusing to import Address Book. Turned out the *.wab file was read-only. DOH!

Doh! Indeed...and twice so. Why is it always the simple things that catch us out so easily? Can't beleive that i didn't think of this....never even crossed my mind.
