I have not been able to install WIN2K on my new cpu (A7V1333 M/B, 1.2 Ghz AMD). When I boot from the installation disk it begins setup, loads files, and when it reaches the screen that says "To set up Windows 2000 now, press enter"... I press enter and it says "setup did not find any hard disk drives." I'm aware of the ATA-100 issue with WIN2K... I'm somewhat of a beginner and need help resolving this issue. Thank you!

this shouldn't affect the initial install..
try this simple test..
get a floppy disk with Fdisk http://www.bootdisk.com
boot from it and run Fdisk ..
it should press option 4 to see the HDD info..
if it doesn't find any fixed disks then you have installed your HDD incorrectly..
another option is a bad mbr..
to fix just run fdisk /mbr
I would also check to BIOS to see if the IDE controller is enabled..
make sure your HDD is et to Primary Master.
if it still gives you problem you may have to install from the hdd.. to do that use the following steps:
1.boot from a bootable Floppy (win98) with CD-ROm support
2. use Fdisk to create a primary Active Partition the size you want
3. reboot and format this drive
4. insert your CD-ROm and copy the i386 directory to c:\
5. reboot from the floppy (bypassing all config files with F5)
6. run Winnt from i386
Hope it helps.

Actally, are you installing on a hard drive connected to the ata100 controller?
If you are, you have to load the ata100 drivers as a scsi device ( Press F6 when the setup program is loading all of the SCSI drivers, ie. Compaq Array, Adaptec, etc.).
Once the drivers are loaded, win2k will see your hard drive. From then on out, it should be a standard install.

That's for the help, I'm going to try all of your suggestions... One thing I forgot to mention (stupid me), was that I have succesfully installed WIN98. This should rule out any hardware problems. Thanks again!

Move C: to the ATA-66 controller, install win2k, install sp2, move the drive back to Ata-100
