Hello:

Has anyone ever heard of the following problem. IE 5.01

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
module USER.EXE

I know all about kernal 32 errors, I know all about clearing the temp files and history from dos. Neither of those things work no does the repair IE tool.

This problem only happens about 50% of the time and only when I am trying to type an address in the explorer address bar.

I have been to all of the news groups I can find. No solution.

If it does not get fixed soon I will have to just give it up and reformat the darn machine. Such a waste for such a small but annoying problem.

Try this (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q221/0/85.asp) page for a fix.

I have tried tried the information at microsoft with no help.

I did not want to put in 5.5 yet because I never had problems with 5.01 ever untill one day it just started happening.

If I want to put in 5.5 I will just redo the machine first I don't want to just try to cover up problems.

I have spent more time tring to figure this out than I would have ever spent redoing my machine.

I just thought it would be nice to beable to find the answer incase this ever happens to another user.

The reason I know it is IE is because that is the only program that ever trips User.exe. Since almost every program acceses user.exe it must be IE.

Thanks for tring.

I don't think upgrading to IE 5.5 will help you because I have the exact same message coming up with 5.5 and have been researching forever how to resolve the problem I get the exact same error messag as you. Let me know if you find an answer. You can email me at irbrenda@AOL.COM. tHANKS :)
