My customer has a system with Win98se, 64Mb ram. and has been using Quicken 98 Standard Edition with no problems. Now it locks up everytime you click on an account line. You can CTL-ALT-Del and it says not responding. It will allow an end, and use other apps. Even when I reboot it will lock up again. I've noticed that I can access the menus fine until I click on the acount lines then even my menus are locked

I've uninstalled, even went into the registry and removed all references to Quicken. I then have reinstalled, put the comany files back and they will work fine for about 5-6 clicks, but then locks up again. There are two companies on this system and both lock up.

I'm thinking that it's something in Windows. I've done a laminate reinstall of Win98se, but no joy. For what it's worth... Freecell doesn't work either, but all other apps that I've tried work fine.
I've also updated the virus software and it's clean.

You might want to run through msconfig and see what's starting up with the computer. Uncheck any apps that aren't necessary and try running quicken again. You may have to uncheck things more than once to find a problem app. It sounds like it's clashing with another program when you try to access those lines. You should also look and see if those files are set at "read only"......
