My brother has uninstalled Norton Antivirus. When he reboots his pc he gets a message saying the files for norton antivirus are missing. I have tried to delete all associated files in the registry. Also in the Add/remove section, the programs are still listed, even though the files have been deleted. If I try to remove them I just get a message saying that the files are missing.

have you tried going into "msconfig" and see if there is something to uncheck in "startup" ?
and try installing it back in,then run the uninstall from the norton installation cd. :)

Check for These entries in the registry under this key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run,. NavDefAlert, Norton Auto-Proctect, and, Norton E-mail Protect. If you find any of these, delete all and restart.
This should take care of it…..
Good luck
:D
