It's me again. I just networked a computer running Windows98SE to my cable connection. It was working fine until I networked it. NOw every time I try to shut it down....it doesn't shut down. Since it's running Windows98SE..i think there is a number of solutions....

There are: first thing to do is download the latest drivers for your NIC. You can also get the 98 VXD Fix from the Tech Tools section of this site?
What kind of NIC is it?

also you can go to microsofts site and download the 98se shutdown patch. i used to be able to shut mine down w/ no problem until one day i did something minor (instlal a program) and it wouldnt shut down(system would hang). i ran the patch and it works like a charm again...i think its readily available, but last time i checked microsofts critical updates site...it was down--so email me if you need the patch..

Your not by any chance using a novell client are you? I know that if you don't have the latest novell client it will never shut down right.
