After win98 installation and setup is finnished, the program can start in the fail safe mode, but hangs showing error message from windows explorer.

Proceeded with full install again, but still happen same thing.

I've got an intel pentium 266 mmx, 64 MB ram, in a tx pro MB, with 4.3 gb HD. Previous OS was WIN95 B.

thanks in advance

What is the error message you are getting from explorer?

Have you tried starting to a command line and typing scanreg /fix ? Then try and restart in normal mode

good luck

When you say full install, did you format the drive first or just do it over the top of the old installation ?

This happens when you install win98 over top of any install of windows after installing IE5.
Remove IE5 from your system.
go to the c:\windows dir, and delete explorer.exe
Reboot, and reinstall windows98.

I agree with Reboot.
you should also try going in safe mode to device manager when done installing 98 and check each catergory of devices. Remove any doubles (remove both\all) or "other devices". Especially check under disks, display, monitor, and controllers. Win98 has a bad habit of putting in extras. I always remove anything doubled (like both floppy drives if it shows 2) and let windows redetect the right ones.
