Is it a good idea to partition the HD using WIN98 ? I tried using F-Disk and the report was that the drive was not DOS partitioned.

Or are you running it from a win 98 boot disk? And why are you playing around with FDISK and making partitions if you are not sure what you are doing. FDISK is a tool and if its used wrong you can really screw things up. I'm not trying to sound insulting only trying to save you headaches. If you are not sure about what you are doing. Take it to a tech who does. Laters, Kevin The Tech Dude. Peter November 24th, 1998, 04:50 PM Obviously this hard drive was used before and probably using fat16. When using fdisk with Win95 SR2 or B, on the first question "Do you wish to enable large disk support (Y/N) ...? the answer should be "N" enter. then hit 4. Display partition information, enter. look at the number of partitions, the type of partition you have and it's name if it has one. hit esc key. now it's time to delete it(them). press 3. Delete partition or logical DOS Drive. "now is the time to select the "lowest viewable type of partition you have". follow the questions until it is gone and repeat until all are gone. Now you are ready to partition your newly cleaned drive with Win98 boot disk with Win98 FDISK. Good Luck and be careful. Peter windrivers.com
