Hi, do you know how to relace a lost, missing or corrupted file with system file checker? When I want to restore from my win 98 cd I cannot find the exact file firstly and next where do I put it anyway.? This is very frustrating. Any advice.

Run SFC first to try and fix the file first and then use find files from the start menu to find thd corrupt find on your hard drive then delete it.
then use find files on your CD to find the new one and when you go to extract the file from cd you will know where to find it and where to put it on your hard drive.

Finding files can be tricky. The system is built like a tree, As you go from file to subfile you cross branches of that tree. Each time you cross a branch you signify it by a backstroke or a "\" symbol. So that to go to your say your newly downloaded game in America Online you would go to C:\America Online 6.0\Download\Game. (because Download was the name of the file in America Online that you downloaded the new game to. Game was the name of the game, and C:\America Online was the location of America Online. (This is just an example.)
Each time you go into a different folder down the tree you have to put a backstroke before it.
Once you know how to navigate to a folder you can find those files you are trying to replace.
