Just rename win.com in your Windows directory to win.old or something similar and then boot from the cd and you're good to go. Just make sure you direct the install to use the same Windows folder used previously and not Windows.000.

R U sure U want to go with Windows ME ?
If u using Win98SE, I'd advise u to rather downgrade back to that....

The best way is to use the WinMe Upgrade version. Since you bought the OEM one, I would first check if the dealer can replace it for me (of course without opening the box). If this wouldn't be possible, I would do what Sowulo stated above. Of course if I was sure I needed to upgrade Win98 to WinMe! http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/wink.gif

I agree with yoda knight and AlienDyne are you sure you want to upgrade to WINME? http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/cwmsmilies/cwm4.gif

I desagree. I have ME working for me for a year now and have had bleu only one time. Install the compatible applications and drivers and you won't have any problem.
The blue happened in a lightning flash when I was connecting with IE5. I suspect very much that it was caused by an external cause, from a hacker if I may speculate.

That's great Votan! It's not that I have a bias against WinME my point is with Windows XP (Pro and Home Versions) coming out in a few weeks just wait (if the dealer will take back the WinME OEM).

Votan I'm now thinking you're playing Blackjack on your Windows ME because it really sucks. Always Blue screen...Win98SE is the best right now.
XP will be the best......I think.
Hope you'll like it.

I agree with most everybody here...WinME blows chunks and WinXP will be the way to go. Personally, however, I'm not sure how much I'll gain going from W2K to WinXP. I may try a dual boot setup with WinXP on a separate partition. Has anybody tried dual boot with W2K already installed followed by WinXP? http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/cwmsmilies/cwm3.gif

Yes Steve, and as long as they are installed on seperate partitions and you don't let XP write anything at all to the partition (obviously except for the Boot files), you should be ok. If you let XP have a sniff of installing anything to the same drive as 2K it will mess a lot of things up in 2k.
