Wile trying to scan a picture I get a message (stack overflow). How can I fix this?

Umax 610s Factory CD + patch for boot problem in win98. This scanner worked until I installed a HP 842c printer. The printer works fine.

Are you running a Virus Protection while scanning? Like McAfee or Nortons (especally if Nortons is an older version) If you are, then Disable the auto protect while your scanning, and then try to scan. Scanning uses up a lot of memory, how much Ram do you have? I recomend atleast 128meg.
