could someone translate "there is a problem with your display settings. the adapter type is incorrect or the current settings do not work with your hardware". this happened during a video game, now i cannot get my resolution set back to where it was.

This is saying that their is a problem in your video drivers! If it happened during a video game, & you were installing it? It could of changed or tried to update your video drivers. Sometimes games do not recognize the drivers you have or the games try to install DIRECT X drivers. A lot of times I have seen them install older drivers overtop of your "NEWER DRIVERS" causing the video display to quit working correctly.

You can try going into video display, change the drivers to standard VGA, reboot system and reinstall the correct drivers. Sometimes this will correct the problem.
