Game port disabled

i just updated my sound card drivers i have a DCS S819.now my joystick or game port is disabled tried reinstalling drivers...tried re-installing joystick will not see it -tried other gamepads still the same thing is there somewhere else i should be looking-i even tried reinstalling game port...but unsure where that would be...im using win98

I know for a fact that Soundblaster PCI128 requires IRQ 5 AND IRQ 7 to work properly. This also includes the full use of a joystick. Which motherboard are you using and what BIOS do you have on it? If you can reserve IRQ5 AND IRQ7 for Legacy Devices in your BIOS and see if this works.

i've sold those cards before and theywill work with just about any IRQ.... sounds like you may have a faulty game port.... did you try it with another gamepad/joystick to rule out a bad gamepad/joystick? if so... i'd try another card.
