Hello!
Does anyone know of a way to boot to a floppy and change a computer's name from the DOS prompt? It would be for a Windows 95/98 lab. I realize this is a longshot but thought I would throw it out there.

Anything can be done...tell us exactly how you wish it and maybe some spiffy programmer will whip up something for ya :D

Does this disk need to be bootable...?

Yes, a bootable disk, capable of changing the computer's name from a prompt is exactly what I am looking for. That or a program that would assign the NIC's MAC address as the computer name from a bootable floppy.

If you search enough, I believe there was a batch command someone posted a few days ago that would change the computer name when added to the autoexec.bat file. If you found this command, you could just create a simple boot disk and add the command to the autoexec.bat on the floppy.
