[RESOLVED] Registry keys restore

I was infected by a virus(w32.blebla.b.worm) and was told to clean it which i have and then to 'restore the registry keys' How do i do that?? Ihave not made any backups but from what i can undersand windows keep a record from 5 startupts.
Im puzzeld..

Boot into Dos-Prompt and type "scanreg /restore".
If there's a registry backup stored, it should work.

I can start windows. Thats no problem. If i do what you say wont it just use the latest backup when my computer was able to start.
Which it is even though the virus has made so that i can't open exe, jpg, gif, mp3...and allot more. The virus has altered the registry keys for these files and pointed them to Sysrnj.exe(which doesnt exsist)
This virus was classed LOW at Norton..

It would probably do that.
So, what you're trying to say is that you couldn't correct it using NAV, right?

Norton only removed the virus but ddidnt fix the damage. I cant open Norton AV now due to the damage.
I haven't done nothing so far to fix it.
Im trying to get more information on how, before i screw something up.

Have you tried to install Windows over itself?

This was noted as a Low risk virus.
That was easily removed. and treated.
I don't want to reinstall windows cause then i'll loose all my stuff that i have.
Have to figure out some way to change the keys for the files that are re directed to this Sysrnj.exe
To restore them as they said..

Sara, if you install Win98 over itself you won't loose anything! Drivers, documents, software etc. remain the same, as long as you select the same directory as installed before (for example c:\Windows).
This would probably solve the problem.

I got win 95. I hope it works the same.

If nothing else works i'll re install.
Can i install win 98 over 95 and get the same results?

Wait a minute. I thought you had Win98 installed. Win95 would not work 100%. You have to try it, but don't blame me if it fails.. http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smile.gif

You need W98 Upgrade to load Win98 over Win95.

If i install win 98(upgrade) over my win 95 now. It might fix the registry, but still keeps my software and so on...

You can re-install Win95 over itself. It will probbly give you the option of restoring "damaged" files. I have done this several times. Just make sure, as was said before, that you re-install to the same directory as before ex: c:\windows

Norton Antivirus helped me out to fix it.
I had to copy regedit.exe to regedit.com
and then do the changes in the registry.
Now everything works fine. I still plan to upgrade to win98 though.
