Hi all,
After installing win98 I can't use the 3com
NIC when docked... it's a Dell Latitude
CPI-A 366. I know he hardware's OK because
when I boot into Linux everything's fine.

In device manager I get an indication of
an unknown device, and there's an exclamation
mark on the 3com device, apparently because
the "unknown device" is not working "properly".

I installed all the latest driver from Dell
and 3com... to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cross-posting to 3com and win98 boards - excuse me if you read this twice (I'm desparate)

Thanks --tolp

I've encountered the exact same problem before when I was setting up about 30 computers in a lab, all had 3COM NIC cards. They kept showing up as unknown devices. I booted into safe mode and made sure no ghost drivers were there, once I was clear on that, I then redownloaded the drivers from the site. Instead of removing the unknown device, I just updated the driver and wow, it worked. For some reason, a file wasn't being copied for the driver, anyway, that is what fixed it for me. Hope this helps.

Did you install the drivers for the Nic when the machine was docked? You have make sure that the drivers are properly installed under the "docked" profile as well as the "undocked" profile.

As said above, You might not have the drivers installed under the docked profile.

let us know if you still have probs.
