Hi all. Recently I upgraded my memory. Since then, I've had nothing but problems. I finally caved and reformated. This led to even more problems so off to the computer shop I went. The computer shop was able to get my computer up and running. But I'm still experiencing the same problems. I get a lot of internal memory errors and even more DLL errors. Especially when trying to open up programs.

I have two Seagate hardrives (1.5 and 6.4 gig), an Asus P5A mobo with 100FSB, an AMD K62 450 Processor and Windows 98SE. My total memory is 160megs (two 64's and one 32)

Windows was fine until I added the two 64's. My mobo book says that it is upgradable to 712 meg of ram. Is there something I'm missing. Please help.

I should let you know that the two 64 meg memory chips are not manufactured by the same company. Could this possibly be my problem?

(The specific DLL Errors are Run32 and Kernel32)

Perhaps just a bad dimm? Try just one of the 64's at a time!

Are you using PC100 DIMMS? What is your bus set at?

We use the P5A-B mainboards at work, usually they have either a k6-2/333 or /500 on them, and we have noticed a **LOT** of problems if the DIMMs aren't of the same manufacture. Either BSOD's or just plain ol' lockups that require a power cycling to clear.
In our case, making sure all the memory matches seems to have cured a vast majority of the problems...

I am running the P5A board with a 500 and ME on my system and it is running great with 320 Megs of Ram (all PC100). The Ram is all made by different manufactures. DDS (Note that this board actually supports 768 megs of Ram) Most likely the problem that you are dealing with is a stick of bad Ram. (see 3fingersalute's reply) Also double check your jumpers. You also might want to try removing the 32 meg stick. SOmetimes you can overload your memory bus with too many sticks of memory. I personally try never to use more than 2 DIMM slots, no matter how many my mobo might have.
