After reinstalling, windows is acting a bit funny... sub menus don't open automatically. For example if I click start and point to Programs, I have to click for the menu to appear. This happens also with context (right-click) menus.

Another Win anomaly occurs when I click the minus sign in a folder tree. The tree collapses but re expands again to the sub-directory I was in. Eg: If I'm in C:\Data\Docs and click the minus sign on 'C:'
the tree collapses and immediatly re-expands to 'Docs'!! I have to first select C: and then click the minus sign.

What version of windows are you running?

Did you by chance install a newer version of IE, and then re-install windows without un-installing IE first????

Have you checked the downloads section of microsoft.com? Windows was always realeased with a TON of bugs, and there might be a windows update for your version that could fix it.

Also check for a virus, it almost sounds like one.

Not this BS again. <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0"> No offense man, but Reinstall Windows because your menus don't work they way they're supposed to? Cmon! You don't even know what version of Windows he's running!

The solution to the menus not expanding automatically is a simple registry setting like so:

Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
Value Name: MenuShowDelay
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: 0-999 (milliseconds)

If this value is set to 65534, then the menus will never automatically expand.

In fact, you can download TweakUI (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsme/guide/tweakui.exe) and change this setting instead.
