I have Win 98SE. I get the error message: Rundll32 This program has performed an illegal operation. Rundll32 caused a general protection fault in module KRNL386.EXE.

What are you doing when you get this message? It could be caused by any number of issues. Are you printing? What programs are running? This includes programs running in the background.

What all is running in the background when this happens?
Most likely this is being caused by some 3rd party software that was recently installed on your computer.
To see what all is running, hit ctrl-alt-del. End task on everything but explorer and systray, then try rightclicking on my computer again.

You could try replacing krnl386.exe using the SFC utility..
Put you windows 98 cd rom in the drive (unless your machine updates itself from the hard drive)
Start, Run, type in SFC, press return, select replace one file, type in krnl386.exe, click start. If windows does not automatically give you the restore from type in the drive letter of your cdrom and directory of the windows98 cabs (EG d:\win98). the destination c:\windows\system.
Click OK. Click OK to the backup folder, but make a note of where it is, click ok and it should restore the file. Reboot and see if the error message stops.
If not, try running sfc again, this time run the scan, you may have more than one corrupt system file.
If it persists, post again with as much detail as you can.
