I AM REALLY REALLY ANNOYED WITH MY PC!
It just hangs in the win98 enviroment.
I have a PII Celeron 500MHZ, RICOH MP7060A, QUANTUM FIREBALL KA 6.4GB, VOODOO 3 3000 (ALL NEW), ZIP DRIVE, 32MB SDRAM, SB AWE64 GOLD.
And all my pc does it just suddenly hang.
All I know it can be is the RAM because it's the only thing that hasn't been replaced enless it's a conflict with something else.
I have formatted many times and everything on my PC seams fine!
I NEED DESEPRATE HELP!

What brand is your motherboard?
You said you had a celeron 500, so are you also using a slot 1 adapter with it?
If you are, sometimes slot 1 adapters can cause freezing if they aren't firmly placed into the slot itself or it might just be a bad slot1 adapter altogether. But that's just one suggestion out of many.
Do you have power management settings on, I'd suggest to disable them and see what happens.
You have a Ricoh cd-burner. Sometimes the cd burning software is running in the background anytime you are running win98, that could cause a lockup as well. Also, See about getting the latest drivers for your V3 3000 and sb awe64 gold. Get 64 to 128 mb of ram instead of 32, that will help as well.
Check your hd for bad clusters, use scandisk with surface scan enabled. Do you have a modem or network card? Sometimes they could cause lockups. Do your lockups happen at a certain point or is it just Random? The cause could be software or hardware related. So many causes, so many answers. If you bought this system from a vendor, have them check it out. This could be a warranty issue.

Also check overheating issues with all of these items in the case. Lets take one step at a time.
1. pull all cards out except video. START>SHUTDOWN>SHUTDOWN to MSDOS. when in dos type win /d:m to boot into safe mode. go to device manager and look for duplicates. remove duplicates and reboot. play a while and see what happens.
2. run msconfig. select selective startup. uncheck load startup group. reboot. play a while and see what happens. Let us know the results of these two and we will be able to tell more.
3. D/L troubleshooter and run MB, mem,and cpu test. check for failures.

The Processor is new and it happen before I got it.My motherboard is a QDI Legend V.
For the subject of Ram I ain't buying any more at the moment because of the price.
I will try the msconfig thing and it's not my hard drive because I've tried many new ones because of bad clusters on some that I was sent.
As I say it can only be My RAM, Sound Card or Zip.
Enless it's my motherbaord.
