I was surfing the forums and next thing i know, my computer is restarting. Any ideas. Im running 98 SE. Sebring February 27th, 2001, 11:17 PM First and foremost, HEAT!!!!!!! Check your fans. Make sure there aren't any cables obstructing the cpu fan\s. Is this a new system? You've got the cpu speed set correctly? I've seen bad memory cause this as well and if it only happens when you're runing a certain program, try reinstalling it. If it only happens in IE look for an update. Outside of that, do a virus-scan. ------------------ HEY! Who ate my cat? StevePorter February 28th, 2001, 01:56 AM Sebring's right again. Also, check for big dust bunnies clogging the intake and exhaust points on your computer case. Just watch out for saber-toothed cooties, though. Those suckers'll take your finger right off. Heat seems the most logical explanation though like suggested. ------------------ Darren Wilson Webmaster The Carpers Lodge.net (http://www.carperslodge.net) The Webs Number One Resource for Today's Carp Angler. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/cwm2/piss2.gif FLAMERS http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/s/cwm2/piss.gif gumbie79 February 28th, 2001, 01:20 PM The computer is only about 7 months old and i use compressed air on it every month, so i know it is clean. I was on for about a week strait, so maybe that was it. I'll try and run virus scan and check for any IE updates. NTTECH1 February 28th, 2001, 09:03 PM What kind of Upgrades have you done recently Hadware or software try to remember what changed on the system B4 the problem occured. Bad Memory can also cause a random reboot. ------------------ Computer Shop Owner A+ COMPTIA Lifes a Beach gumbie79 February 28th, 2001, 11:44 PM I ahve added memory, but that was in November.. this just happened the other day. Would it take that long for it to become a problem? Sowulo February 28th, 2001, 11:52 PM Any component can fail at any time. The passing of time only increases the odds. ------------------ Ya never know, ya know? gumbie79 March 1st, 2001, 12:14 AM it hasn't happened again so i going to see if it restarts again, then i will yank the new stick for a few days and see if acts up again. kennethstarrfp March 1st, 2001, 04:52 AM ****ING HELL!!!
