Modem Dialing without wanting to.

Hopefully this will be the last time that I ask for this (I keep getting responses and keep forgetting to print them out). We have modems that are dialing out on their own. They're not viruses (updated NAV would have told me that). What else is it?

It's either windows update looking for an auto-update (check IE properties...) or something in the Task Manager.

It is not checking for IE updates, that has been turned off.

I would be willing to be it is a virus.
The fact that you updated norton anti-virus does not completely eliminate trojan causing the problem because I know quite a few of them norton does not detect.
go here and download a real virus scanner

If this one runs and doesnt detect anything then you do not have a trojan but until then don't completely rule it out.
