I am running Windows 98 and when I try to boot up, I get the windows 98 picture and then goes to a blue screen.(Error Message: An Exception OD has occurred At OD 0597:000001B4) I cannot even boot into safe mode. I have some important Tax http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm34.gif info on my disk and would like to know if anyone knows what this problem is, and how to resolve it.

Win 98
233 mhz
96 Meg ram
6 gig HD

The fact that you can't even boot into safe mode indicates a serious problem more than likely hardware related. I would try removing some ram and moving some modules around to see if it is a memory problem.
About the only thing you can do is troubleshoot it like you would troubleshoot anything else by removing and or replacing each component.You could also try enabling the bootlog.txt file to see where it is failing or on what driver it is failing on.

back to basics.
1st! what was the last thing that happened to machine before you noticed a failure?

do you possibly have a boot diskette? If yes; then boot to it; grab your files & then maybe you have to restore the computer.
