[RESOLVED] Memory management under WinMe

Dear Sirs,

I kindly ask you your help on a problem I have not been able to solve so far.

I have a PIII 450Mhz with 256 Mb RAM pc-100 running WinMe.

Everything started from the feeling WinMe did not take full advantage of my RAM, which I consider to be a good size one.

I tried to follow the advice in this site and determined, after calculation, my swap file (created in my second HD D http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smile.gif size of 450 Mb, but I still have the usual feeling my system is not exploiting all physical resources.

Is there a definite way to have all phisical resorces fully employed?

Ok, what how does the system act ?
Why do you think its not exploiting the available resources?
Is it sluggish or what? What types of programs are you running?
with 256 megs you should have plenty of ram...try running freememPro

I agree with the first reply? Why do you feel that your system resources (Of all things) are not being utilised!!
Cut that Huge (Manually-set I guess) swap-file back! With 256mb RAM, about 180mb is needed TOPS!!
Have you checked-out your main board? It's not one of the 'affected' Intel chipset's is it??

Win ME has a realy anoying habit of dwindling system sped when the HDD gets the slightest bit fragmented! i run a pIII 550 with 128 of PC133 Win ME slows when it gets fragged. You dont happen to run office 2000? i aborted the win optimisation after installing it in my puter it sucked for ages till i realised you might want to run the windows optimiser from the mcafee online
