What are the consiquences of deleting the contents of Windows/Temp folder? I am hoping that the term "TEMP" means its not important. I sure would like that storage space back, but im not thrilled by the prospect of troubleshooting or formatting either.

Thanks in advance

If you have already rebooted your system to make sure that there are no 'pending' installs waiting to finish then you should be able to delete everything in the temp folder without a problem.

Move all the files to another directory.
Windows will stop you from moving any that it needs/is currently using.
Reboot and see if there any problems. If there are, move the files back (u may need to re-boot in safe mode).
This is just precautionary though, I just delete what ever it will allow, and I haven't had any problems yet.
You might want to try Easycleaner, its for free:

Sort them by date usually it is best to leave the ones that have the present date on them and delete the rest. You wil find you can not delete most of the files anyhow with the current date on them as windows is using the file.
