[RESOLVED] .emf files???

If it's not too much trouble...I've been having problems for the last few days with my pc...having to reboot several times in order to unfreeze it.

One of the techs mentioned that I should clean up my .tmp files...which used to be under c:\windows\temp...well I just went in there and there are about 30 .emf files.

Can anyone tell me what they are and how they got there? Can I delete them?

Sorry if this sounds ignorant but...I am when it comes to this stuff.

Enchanced Metafile graphics is what my file extension list says. The only ones i have in my computer are in program files-common files-microsoft shared-grphflt. However, wmf files are windows metafiles which are a graphic format that clip art in MS office are stored as.

I don't know about that Weazel, some moronic install programs install to the temp directory.

Hi,
The whole idea behind cleaning out the .tmp files is to clear up disk space for that directory. If you have 30 or so files of any type, it will probably not effect anything whatsoever...as long as they are not huge files in the high MB range.
If your PC is freezing up, there may be several different reasons for it. You could make a new post with all of your computer specs, etc. and I'm sure somebody could help you out. Having said all of that, freeze ups can be related to a bad memory problem, a bad video card, etc. It could also be that you have too many programs running in the background...i.e. VirusScans, screensavers. etc. Does it freeze up only when you're online or is it completely random? If only when you're online, get rid of AOL! (sorry, most of these posts always tell you to get rid of AOL...I got rid of them about a year and a half ago and have never regretted it)
