I seemed to have deleted the mvivxd.386 file from my computer and now Win 98 will not load up. Does anyone know where I can get it and how I can fix the problem.

I have a win98se machine, and don't find that file any where on my drive, you might have uninstalled some other program and it was part of it.

Either reinstall program or try and repair your registry. boot to seaf mode command prompt only, type "scanreg /fix". this should repair registry and start windows..

Seems like lots of people have had this problem, heres some comments i found on another forum which hopefully may be of some use to you:-

Check TSR's Dungeon Master's Guide CD for the file - usually this problem occurs when uninstalling the game.

OK. I finally found a copy of the file. The Dungeons & Dragons Core Rules 1.0 edition, when uninstalled, removes this file from your system. You can't find it on the CD, and the only way to get it is to install the program again, at which time it magically pops out into your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. I have a copy now, so if anybody needs one, give me an email at cablume@bigfoot.com.

My friend had the same problem, all we did to fix it was to remove the line from system.ini in hte [386enh] section, the line is device=mvivxd.386. just remove it. If the system says there is still a problem, it is because either some other file is missing or you still have some software that needs it. This file is NOT needed to run windows.
