format c:, and save prog functionality from d: ?

Hey, can someone help me with advice on getting a win reload to work with all the programs I have installed on my D partition? My C: is pretty much a windows only partition, and all my software is installed in d: program files. I want to format/renstall win98 on c:, but im not sure what to save/restore from c: to preserve the connections between the existing windows load and all the programs installed on d.

Since almost all Windows based programs install some files into the Windows folders and update the registry, it is nearly impossible to format your c drive and have those programs on d: still call the funtions and files that are no longer in Windows after you do a fresh install. You can leave the programs there and re-install over them. But, another word of caution, a lot of programs like to put the user data files in the My Documents folder on the c: drive. I hope this answers your question.

You could export the software registry keys which creates a .reg file that could then be installed after Windows is reloaded by importing or by double-clicking on the .reg file.
