[RESOLVED] clean install of 98

i realy hope someone can help out. I've done a new install of win 98 on a 2nd hand laptop (400 mmx 64meg ram) and all the font on the desk top and wherever i type eg word looks sorta dark on one side and washed out. The graphics from a cd work fine. Can anyone please help? tks lollol
