Hi all!

I am having the same problem on several machines on a network I am working on. We want to use windows messaging as their network fax share, but windows messaging will not start on about half of the machines. It comes up with the intro screen, saying windows messaging, then that screen disappears and there is nothing that comes up. Has anyone ever heard of this before??

I have a feeling it has something to do with mapi32.dll, but cannot seem to find a version that will fix the problem. I have already tried reinstalling messaging, to no avail. These computers don't have outlook on them, but they have netscape which I understand installs it's own mapi32.dll.

Any help is appreciated.

Bingo! It's the Netscape version and MS won't overwrite. Do a find for mapi32*.*, I don't remember the extension that Netscape adds to the old MS mapi32.dll. Once you find it, rename the two. Oh, by the way, do it in safe mode.

Thanks Charlie, I'll try it next time I'm there and let you know how it goes.

The file name is mapi32bak.dll, and now everything works great! Thanks a million!
