I'll try to be brief as I can this happened on my bosses computer. The printer wasn't working so another coworker deleted or removed files from Netscape to get it to work. And now when he boots up windows it doesn't go right to the desktop like he wants it too. It says if this file was deleted or removed by accident to reinstall the program or remove the application. How do you do that if there is no uninstall program for it. They have netscape on CD but when you go to reinstall it, It doesn't read drive D: path you have to browse for the path.. The fastes easy way or site to go to how to do this would very much be appreciative.Win95 thanks

After he deleted files from the Netscape, could he shut down the computer normally?
If he could then it's not a Netscape problem.
It's a printer setup problem, the printer driver needs to be reinstalled on the printer setup window.
Hope that helps!

As far as the missing files are concerned, you should be able to remove the references from the reg with regedit. (Backing up 1st of course!)........Your cd-rom drive is a totally unrelated issue, I would believe.
Is it hooked up?...Does the BIOS see it??....Are DOS drivers loading before windows?....More info please!!!!

Look for an EXE file in the C:\Windows directory that will uninstall Netscape. It will be called something weird like cd32.exe

To all three people that responded to my message, I have the exact information that the system says when it boots up. Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run Window or a Windows application. the windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists. If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using its uninstall or setup program. If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file. C:\WINDOWS\NETSCAPE\VTCPRAC.386 C:\WINDOWS\NETSCAPE\VNTSTIMD.EXE C:\WINDOWS\NETSCAPE\DIAL.386

You can delete the references to them in your registry, but that's not going to help make Netscape work again.
I would suggest getting that CD-ROM working (replace it if needed) and re-install Netscape!!
Does the BIOS see your CD-ROM?....Do your HD controllers have ! marks???

Netscape still works and boots up, the problem there having is the system is booting up the screen that I mentioned earlier and they don't want it booting up that way they just want to know how to fix that, so it will boot up and go to the desk top.

First - Backup your registry.
Go into regedit, do a search for each file's name and delete any references....that will get rid of the error messages.
Like I said before though, I'm sure those files were there for a reason, so I'd try to do a re-install to replace them!
(Although, if you're not familiar with the registry and using regedit, I would find somebody who is before you go deleting things!)
