I have installed the Second Edition Win98 on 7 systems, 5 went flawlessly, 2 went v-dumb-self destruct, due to sound cards. One was due to onboard sound, the other was Sound Blaster 16 (ISA). I couldn't even get it up in safe mode. I had to copy important info via dos and reload from scratch. I was able to remove or disable both sound sources and load without problem but as soon as I enabled either they blew the load with no quick fix in site. Just wanted to give heads up and if anyone has found a way around this please let me know.
Thanks, Peter

I recently built a system with SE and I had Sound Problems on a Labway PCI. The USB Mouse and the Sound Card had conflicting IRQ's. I tried changing it in Windows, it woudln't let me though. It came to find out that I had set in the BIOS, PNP OS to YES. Big No No. When I got rid of this the computer started up and the Mouse and Sound Card worked great.

Mmmm, this is the age old windows problem, it is just fine & dandy when it recognises hardware correctly, but when it doesn't especially ISA devices all hell lets lose, as for IRQ and DMA conflicts tell me about it! Generally set as much info in BIOS as possible as 98 is only plug and play aware of devices it has inf files on, anything else and close matches seem to cause it to behave unexpexedly.
