Hi all,
Have a nearly dead HD that freezes the machine whenever i explore to certain dirs. Have put it in as a 2nd HD on a fresh win install. Anyway of getting the network settings from the duff hard disk so i can put them into the new setup?

Can you please expand a little on "Network settings"?
What do you mean exactly?
Are we talking ISP details, as in signup.ins & setup.ins files? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

i mean things like tcpip settings, gateways, dns`s, identification, workgroup, nt domain logon or not. That kinda thing - is it logged or summat?

That stuff is in the system registry. It's not in an INI file or anything like that.

Why would you need these settings? Once you log on a network you should get all that good stuff, unless it's all static which I doubt.

If your are using Win9x go to start run and type winipcfg. or if your using winnt/2k/xp open a dos prompt and type in ipconfig/all

Probably because it's kind of hard to log onto a network if you don't have the network info!

Widgets point, Bad Mojo, is that if this is a proper network and has admin support, why need settings? Install new HD, install all drivers, clients, protocols, harware (NIC etc) and the Network will do the rest!!
I guess there's another wuestion here that we ain't being asked. I woould recommend we get more info on the network setup, or get the original poster to deal with their net admin team.
I guess sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!!!
