A customer brought in a system that wouldn't boot up into windows. Booted it up and it was missing about 8 .VXD's. I then reinstalled windows(more than once) and it was still having the same problem. I then ran Mcafee Virus Scan and it Had the Empire Monkey b virus(it then got rid of it). After reinstalling windows again it actually booted up into windows normally. But everytime after I start windows and get past the logon promp it comes up with an error loading Explorer.exe saying that you must reinstall windows. After hitting OK it then says Explorer.exe is linked to a missing export SHLWAPI.DLL:SHRegGetUSValueA. After that you can't do anything but reset the machine. Have reinstalled windows again(more than once) and always get the same error message. Have checked and Shlwapi.dll is installed(have even re-extracted it from the cd). Any Ideas? Other than reformatting and starting over.
