I downloaded a registry cleaner from the web. After using it, Win98 reports my parallel port as a standard port. I went in to the BIOS and changed the parallel port to EPP and windows did not recognize it, only as standard. I tried using the Add Hardware icon and Win98 then listed a standard parallel port and an ECP port with a yellow X through it. I also tried setting the parallel port as bi-directional and got the same results. I use an Easy Phot Image Wave scanner that needs to use either a bi-directional or EPP parallel port. Can someone please help me on this.

My email address is stryker@theriver.com

Thank You

First go to windows and remove all the printer ports listed. Shut Down...then reboot. Windows should find the epp printer port for you.

It sounds like your motherboard does not support ECP, as that option is apparently not even available in your BIOS. When the BIOS is set to EPP, device manager will still call the port a standard printer port. If your scanner requires EPP or just bi-directional, set your BIOS accordingly and don't worry about what Windows calls your printer port.
