I have Dos installed, went to creative to get the drivers for my soundbalter 16 ISA card, and installed that.

Now when i boot up it loads, but when i go to play nothing comes out.

Any help would be great..

Thanks

Well, congrats, and thanks for the follow up.
BTW, are you networking that box, or just using it as a stand alone system?

its jsut stand alone, if I need to add mp3s i will just pull the hard drive out and copy over more.

It is a bit buggy right now, it will play songs for 20 sec then skip to the next one for no reason, and it crackles. I figure it is hardware problems, i am using an older than i am ISA sound card, and the ram in the machine is probably bad

ROTFL
I remember the (I think) first sound cards that ever came out. Now I'm old...

And I actually troubleshot a similar problem about 12 years ago... Yep, I'm old.

It was memory - of course, it wasn't mp3s, rather midi files. But the software 'jukebox' was cratering when it got the memory full and just moving on to the next file.

Also, make sure you have himem.sys and emm386.exe loading in your config.

What program are you using to play the MP3s in DOS. I would like to do the same thing, and would appreciate any advice on a good program to use.

Thanks.
