Can anyone help? I have a machine with win 95 and the mouse would not work so I figured that I would try to re-install windows by deleting windows at the dos prompt!!! Any way what happened is that some of the win config files are now missing but windows is still listed under C:/ dos prompt.... I can re format the hard drive but I have dos 5.0 and dos 6.22 but it seems the first disk of both versions is corrupt or something. Nortons said they were locked by a disk utility? dont know what that is cuz they worked the last time I used them...Can I get a dos version someplace so I can re-install win-95 on this pc?

You don't need DOS to reinstall windows.

You need a bootdisk of the same OS as you are trying to install.

A good all around one can be found at
www.bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com)

Use this disk to format and partition your hard drive. Have your Windows CD in the cd-rom drive and Product key ready to key in.
